VIX Daily Update: Volatility Declines as Stocks Eke Out Narrow Gains

The CBOE VIX Volatility Index pulled back slightly on Tuesday.

The CBOE VIX (VXX) edged lower on Tuesday, as stocks stabilized from early-week volatility. 

The Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility, commonly known as the VIX, reached an intraday low of 22.83 on a scale of 1-100, where 20 represents the historical average. It would eventually settle down 3.4% at 23.27.

In stocks, the large-cap S&P 500 Index (SPY) rose 0.04% on Tuesday.

ProShares Short VIX Short-Term Futures (SVXY) to track the inverse daily performance of the S&P 500 VIX Short Term Futures Index. SVXY advanced 0.9%.
